Starving horse Heidi is dumped in mud and left to di:e – volunteers save her and now she’s winning awards..
Heidi, a malnourished horse found in the mud at an English construction site, was rescued by British Horse Society volunteers. Initially thought to be dead, Heidi was discovered alive, severely emaciated and unable to stand. The volunteers quickly intervened, lifting her with the help of five people. The owner had mistakenly assumed Heidi was already dead and had called for assistance to remove her body.
Upon her rescue, Heidi’s health was critical, with dangerously low blood protein levels requiring a plasma transfusion. She was also plagued with pressure sores, worms, and other illnesses. Over the next five weeks, Heidi gained enough strength to stand and continued to improve under the care of the Here4Horses Equine Charity. Months of recovery followed before she could run freely in the meadows.Today, Heidi is thriving, with her beautiful mane restored, and she’s even winning awards. Despite the severe neglect she endured, Heidi’s spirit remained unbroken, and she now lives a joyful, award-winning life, thanks to her rescuers’ dedication and compassion.
