A 10-year-old dog named Dorothea was rescued from a canal after being stranded and clinging to a submerged shopping cart for survival. On June 16, a Good Samaritan alerted authorities, and the Phoenix Fire Department, along with the Arizona Humane Society (AHS), quickly responded. Using rescue tools, they brought Dorothea to safety. She was dehydrated, hungry, covered in ticks, and had fractured teeth, but despite her rough condition, she was in good health overall.
After receiving medical care and affection, Dorothea’s sweet personality emerged, and she was adopted into a loving home in Youngtown, Arizona. Her rescue and transformation from a frightened, stranded dog to a beloved pet is a heartwarming success story, showcasing her second chance at life.
