Petty to Pro Revenge: The Jack Saga

It all started when Jack, a smug and petty coworker, targeted me with a series of small, spiteful moves. He would hide my things, swap my snacks with worse options, and sabotage my personal belongings. I didn’t let it slide. In return, I would play my own petty tricks, such as making sure his drinks were tampered with, filling his bottle with water from the urinal flush, and even putting ants in his protein powder. It quickly became a battle of childish revenge, but Jack soon crossed the line by accusing me of stealing equipment I had packed with permission. Despite a thorough investigation, he failed to have me punished, which infuriated him even more.

Things took a darker turn when Jack decided to socially isolate me. He bought drinks for everyone except me and implemented a rule that punished latecomers with grueling PT sessions—unless they were on his side. I continued to be punctual, but his tactics were wearing on me. Jack was also known for borrowing NCOs’ cars, often driving them recklessly. I knew how much this irked the junior NCOs, so I set a trap: I repainted the speed bumps on his favorite route, ensuring he would ruin his car. Sure enough, he did, and the other NCOs started avoiding him altogether, parking their cars far from his reach.

Then, Jack showed up at work with a Maserati, flaunting it like a new toy. The whole base fawned over it, but I saw this as an opportunity. I lured him into a tricky road, where his reckless driving caused an accident. To make sure he couldn’t escape the consequences, I submitted a report detailing the incident, which triggered an investigation. Jack’s friend, the owner of the Maserati, found out about the damage and was furious, forcing Jack to face an astronomical repair bill.

Despite this, Jack soon moved to a new base and adopted a friendly, cooperative attitude to win favor. He quickly became the golden boy, and it looked like he might soon climb to a Captain’s position. But I wasn’t done yet. After some digging, I found out that Jack had been driving military trucks without the required license. I filmed him during a recruitment event, catching him in the act, and then reported the violation. The higher-ups were forced to take action. Jack’s career fell apart. He was barred from promotion, hit with a pay freeze, and eventually resigned from the military, his dreams of advancement shattered.

In the end, Jack’s rise was halted by the very petty revenge he thought he could dish out. His own selfish behavior, combined with my persistence, led to his downfall. He may have thought he could get away with it all, but in the end, it was his own actions that did him in.
