Bruce Springsteen, known for his legendary music and unforgettable performances, often garners attention, but recently, it’s his wife, Patti Scialfa, who has made headlines with a personal revelation. In 2018, Patti was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects the immune system. This diagnosis led her to gradually step back from touring with Bruce and the E Street Band.
Patti shared, “This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go. Every once in a while, I come to a show or two and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that.”
For the 2023 Springsteen tour, Patti chose to appear only at select shows, prioritizing time with her granddaughter and focusing on her music. She explained, “I didn’t feel as needed in a way because there were a lot of musicians on stage… I thought, ‘This is good. This is completely intact.’”
Her health journey is a reminder of the challenges many face, and we wish Patti all the strength and peace as she continues to focus on her well-being and music.
