Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has made waves by announcing his intention to renounce his U.S. citizenship following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
During his band’s performance at the London Stadium on Friday, Armstrong, who has led the punk rock band since 1987, told the audience he would be spending more time on their side of the Atlantic.
Armstrong added, “Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”
The following day, Armstrong continued his criticism of the U.S. during Green Day’s show in Huddersfield, England. His remarks came as part of a growing wave of celebrities speaking out against the Supreme Court’s decision.
Pop star Olivia Rodrigo also joined the movement, calling out conservative justices during her performance at the U.K.’s Glastonbury music festival. “This song goes out to the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you!” she declared during her set.
