Supreme Court Gives Trump Admin

Supreme Court Backs End of TPS for Venezuelans

The U.S. Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to end

Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for about 300,000 Venezuelan migrants, ruling 8-1 in favor of the government.

Lower Court Block Lifted

The justices lifted a prior injunction, permitting removals to proceed.

U.S. Solicitor General John Sauer argued that TPS decisions are “sensitive,

discretionary judgments tied to foreign policy.”

Homeland Security’s Position

Secretary Kristi Noem’s department said conditions in Venezuela “no longer warranted the designation,”

reversing extensions granted under the Biden administration.

Dissent and Impact

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was the only dissenter.

The decision marks a major immigration policy win for Trump officials and

ends the legal challenge launched by Judge Edward Chen’s earlier block.
