Helen Mirren has always known how to make an entrance. The 1923 actress graced the red carpet at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival with a look that surprised many people merely because no one had been expecting it.

The actress kept smiling as she arrived on the red carpet. She wore a beautiful custom blue gown by Del Core. The gown was floor length with a plunging neckline and was also cinched at the waist.

Her jewelry was silver; a necklace and chandelier earrings.

Her entire ensemble was gorgeous but what caught everyone’s attention was Mirren’s brilliant blue hair. The actress is known for sporting her natural gray hair but this time she chose to do something different.

She pinned her hair in an updo so the blue-purple ombre she had going on could stand out. The hair was done by L’Oréal Paris for which the actress is an ambassador. She gave a subtle nod to the brand by carrying with herself a hand fan that read, “#WorthIt.”

While the actress proudly and often wears her natural gray hair, she sometimes has fun with it. In 2019 at the same film festival’s red carpet event, the actress sported red hair which had people talking even at that time.

She recalled, “It was Vin (Diesel) and his team who sort of first introduced me to Instagram.” Adding, “That was, like, I don’t know how many years ago — seven years ago? — but it was a world I wasn’t really aware of and they went, ‘Oh, no, Helen, you’ve gotta do this.’”
