Introduction

When someone wrongs you, seeking revenge might cross your mind. Although it’s a natural reaction, it isn’t always the wisest choice. Instead, enjoy hearing about others’ sweet, satisfying acts of retaliation.

Parking in the Handicap Spot

  • The Incident: While at Walmart, I noticed a truck illegally parked in a handicap spot and another vehicle in a no-parking area. Annoyed by this disregard, I reported both vehicles to the non-emergency police line, giving their plate numbers.
  • The Outcome: The police arrived quickly, verified the violations, and towed the vehicles. As I left with my groceries, I saw the tow trucks and overheard the vehicle owners arguing. The truck owner, who lacked a handicap permit, received a $2000 ticket, while the other vehicle’s owner was fined $500. I drove home, chuckling to myself. Moral: Don’t park illegally, especially in handicap zones.

The Pie Incident

  • The Setup: At 19, I worked as a youth soccer league director with an office in a converted storage room. My “secretary,” Gloria, was overworked and frustrated, though she kept her feelings in check.
  • The Revenge: On my last day, Gloria arrived with a paper bag and, as soon as her shift ended, threw a chocolate mousse pie in my face. She expressed all her pent-up frustration, then walked out. I learned the importance of treating colleagues with respect. Gloria enjoyed the moment, and I apologized for my behavior.

A Flight Full of Lessons

  • The Situation: On a Southwest flight, only scattered middle seats remained. My 7-year-old daughter ended up sitting alone between two unfriendly businessmen. I was seated six rows behind her.
  • The Payback: Unable to find seats together, I asked nearby passengers to switch so my daughter wouldn’t be alone. No one agreed. Later, as the flight continued, a seat opened up next to me and one across the aisle for my older daughter. As she walked down the aisle, the man who had refused to switch was sandwiched between us. Realizing his unkindness, he faced an awkward and uncomfortable situation.
