As a restless toddler, I managed to climb out of my crib and up to the windowsill of my second-floor room around the age of two. My mother had put me down for a nap, but I had other plans. I kicked out the screen from the window and, with no hesitation, jumped out.

I landed in an azalea bush growing in front of our house, which cushioned my fall remarkably well. A neighbor saw me on the windowsill and rushed over, but didn’t arrive in time to stop me. Thankfully, the bush broke my fall, and I was completely unharmed.

My mother was astonished when the neighbor rang the doorbell, holding me and explaining the bizarre situation. It was a surprise for her, but I emerged from the incident without a scratch.
