It was around 4:30am on April 27, 2014, when my dad woke up to turn on the generator. He decided to check if the rooftop door was secured. Finding it unlocked, he quickly locked it and returned to his room. Meanwhile, five robbers had entered our house, targeting the downstairs area where my grandfather was praying. After his prayer, they surprised him and began searching for valuables. Fortunately, he didn’t have much money at home, so they decided to move upstairs with him.

Upstairs, they knocked on my mom’s door. At first, she thought it was a dream, as it was unusual for my grandfather to visit at that hour. When they knocked again more urgently, she woke up and opened the door. The robbers entered with guns and knives, demanding my mom’s wedding jewelry. Using a photo for reference, they insisted she hand it over or face dire consequences. Despite my father’s attempt to comply, my mom hesitated, even as they threatened my brother’s safety.

Eventually, she gave in after a robber put a gun to my brother’s head. As the robbers collected her jewelry, her gold necklace fell. In a heartfelt plea, she told them it was my necklace. Moved by her distress, one of the robbers returned it to her. I was asleep through the entire ordeal and only woke up a minute after they left. It was a frightening experience for my parents, though not the most unusual in our lives.
