Woman Blocks Man Following Their 1st Date in Which He Paid for Their $500+ Dinner

A woman shared her experience on Reddit after blocking a man following an awkward first date where she felt he crossed boundaries and tested her financially.
Like many others, she recounted her first-date horror story. They went to an upscale restaurant she mentioned when asked about her favorite place, though she had suggested a more casual spot.
Despite the cost, the man insisted on the expensive choice, and after a seemingly pleasant evening, he paid the $250 bill.
During the date, she offered to split the check, a standard practice for her on first dates. Both placed their cards down, but the man picked up her card and commented, “Oh, now I know your last name.”
This made her uncomfortable, as she felt it was an invasion of her privacy. As a bartender, she knew how easily card information could be misused.
The man’s insistence on paying after initially agreeing to split the bill also left her uneasy, making her feel he was testing her to see if she would cover half. Feeling disrespected, she thanked him, went home, and immediately blocked him.
Her post received mixed reactions. Some supported her decision, while others thought she overreacted. Ultimately, she sent him money for her portion of the bill and reflected on the experience, taking away a lesson for future dates.
