In February 2020, 41-year-old Jonathan Watson, serving a life sentence in California, admitted to killing two convicted child molesters in prison, claiming he had warned officials beforehand. Watson wrote to Mercury News, describing how he killed inmates David Bobb, 48, and Graham De Luis-Conti, 64, at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran.

Watson explained that he was upset about being moved to a lower-security dorm-style setting and had filed grievances. Six days into his transfer, a fellow inmate, whom he called “Molester #1,” began watching PBS Kids in full view, which Watson saw as provocative. He immediately asked a counselor for an urgent transfer, warning he might attack another inmate if not moved. However, his request was dismissed.

The following day, unable to ignore his instincts, Watson confronted and attacked “Molester #1” with a cane. On his way to confess, he encountered another convicted child molester and killed him as well. Watson, who remains uncharged for these murders, stated he would plead guilty if brought to trial.
