92-Year-Old Man’s Hilarious Comeback to a Rude Teen Will Make Your Day

Recently, I took my 92-year-old dad to the mall for new shoes. He’d always been independent, and though age had slowed him down, he was still remarkably sharp. Picking out shoes became an “event” for him, and he took his time, inspecting every detail to ensure they were “sturdy enough for a hike but classy enough for church.” Afterward, we grabbed lunch at the food court, enjoying the bustling crowd of all ages.
As we waited, Dad noticed a teen nearby with hair styled into bright, wild spikes—green, red, orange, blue. My dad kept glancing over, clearly amused. Finally, the teen called out, “What’s the matter, old man? Never done anything wild in your life?”
Without missing a beat, my dad replied, “Oh, I did once. I got drunk and kissed a parrot.” Then, with a twinkle in his eye, he added, “Now I’m just wondering if you’re my kid.” Laughter erupted around us, and the teen’s tough exterior softened.
As we left, Dad whispered, “We old folks still have a few tricks up our sleeves.” It reminded me that his humor and spirit hadn’t faded one bit, making our outing a memorable adventure.
