A San Jose, California, gang has been arrested for robbing at least 177 elderly women in the Little Saigon area over a year-long period. The gang targeted vulnerable victims, exploiting the belief that elderly women often carried significant amounts of cash. Between October 2020 and September 2021, they used a pattern of blocking victims’ cars, snatching their belongings, and sometimes causing injury. The arrests followed a year-long investigation, with six suspects now in custody. Three individuals were arrested in September, and the remaining three were apprehended recently. The suspects face charges of robbery, elder abuse, and assault, with potential for lengthy prison sentences if convicted. The robberies created fear in the community, particularly among elderly residents, but the police’s swift action has provided relief to the victims and aims to deter future crimes.
