A young man found himself regretting a decision he made one evening when he met a beautiful woman and agreed to spend the night with her for $500. After the night ended, he quickly realized her lack of interest and decided the cost wasn’t worth it. The woman informed him she didn’t have the cash on hand but would have her secretary mail him a check marked as “APARTMENT RENT.”
However, upon further reflection, the man felt the agreement was unfair, so he instructed his secretary to send only $250, along with a note explaining why: the apartment had been previously inhabited, lacked heating, and was much larger than he expected.
The woman responded promptly, returning the $250 check and sending a note of her own. She explained that she was shocked by his expectations, particularly about the apartment being vacant. She also mentioned the heating worked, if used properly, and the size of the room was more than sufficient. She demanded the full $500, warning she would contact his landlord if he didn’t comply.
