Have you ever had a haircut that did not go as planned?

When I was in 9th grade, I had very long hair. One day, my mom suddenly took me to a men’s barbershop. “Cut her hair short like a boy,” she instructed. I started crying, but Mom kept telling the barber to cut it even shorter. People around us began staring. “Is that enough, ma’am?” the barber asked. “No,” Mom said, getting up from her chair. “Cut more.”
I could feel my heart racing as clumps of hair fell around me. The barber’s hands trembled, his eyes wide with uncertainty. Finally, he sighed, snipping away until my hair was nearly gone. Just when I thought the ordeal was over, Mom pulled out a small box of bright red dye.
“This will complete the look,” she announced. The barber hesitated but followed her instructions. When the transformation was done, I looked like a punk rock character straight out of an ‘80s music video.
Years later, I asked my mom why she insisted on that haircut. She grinned, saying, “I wanted to show you that confidence doesn’t come from appearances—but you sure made a bold statement!”
