A Wisconsin Dairy Queen Posts ‘Politically Incorrect’ Sign, and the Owner Stands Firm

A Dairy Queen in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has drawn attention with a “politically incorrect” sign displayed in its window. The sign states that the restaurant uses phrases like “Merry Christmas,” “Happy Easter,” and “God Bless America,” and it honors veterans by offering free sundaes on Veterans Day, displaying the American flag, and expressing gratitude for their service.
Owner Kevin Scheunemann put up the sign nearly four years ago after a customer complained about Christian music playing in the restaurant. He wanted to make it clear that he and his staff are committed to their faith and patriotism. Since the sign was posted, there have been no significant issues until recently.
The sign gained more attention when a tourist from Oregon shared a photo of it on Facebook, expressing concern that the message might seem exclusive. The post quickly went viral but was later taken down. The incident sparked mixed reactions: some people supported the sign, while others criticized it. Local business owners defend Scheunemann’s stance, emphasizing that customers can choose to leave. Dairy Queen stated that the sign reflects only the owner’s personal views, not the company’s.
