Woman tries grandmother’s 1950s honeymoon wardrobe and people can’t believe how good it is

Good style never goes out of fashion, and one woman’s grandmother’s 1950s honeymoon wardrobe is a perfect example. Maddy Bill, 27, from Ambler, Pennsylvania, recently shared a TikTok video showing off a suitcase her maternal grandmother, Marie D’Alessandro Donato, kept from her 1952 honeymoon to New York City. The suitcase contained every outfit Marie wore during the trip, and it had been preserved in pristine condition for over 70 years. Maddy said it was the first time someone had opened the suitcase since it was sealed.
Maddy explained how her grandmother had washed and carefully stored the clothes, preserving them for future generations. After her grandmother passed, Maddy opened the suitcase and found the dresses intact. Encouraged by hundreds of TikTok comments, Maddy tried on the dresses, revealing how well they fit and how the elastic still held up after all these years.
She also tried on a black dress her grandmother had worn at The New Yorker Hotel, a garment Maddy had admired as a child. Maddy now hopes to pass down the items to someone special, just like her grandmother did for her.
