A seemingly innocent recycling-themed t-shirt sold at Walmart has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. The shirt, part of the George fashion line in Canada, features the words “RE” on one side and “cycle,” “use,” “new,” and “think” on the other, promoting a positive environmental message. However, customers quickly noticed that when the words are combined, they inadvertently spell a rude word.
The mishap was shared on Twitter, where it quickly gained attention, with the post amassing over 1.3 million views. Some Twitter users were quick to spot the hidden word, while others needed a little help, prompting the original poster to advise them to “read down” to see it.
In response, Walmart issued a statement saying that the shirt was removed from sale, clarifying that the offensive design was unintentional. The t-shirt was only available in Canada and sold for $5. Despite the oversight, the incident sparked plenty of online chatter, with some customers jokingly rushing to Walmart to grab the shirt before it was pulled from shelves.
