Nearly two years have passed since Lisa Marie Presley’s death at 53, shocking many. Her daughter, Riley Keough, recently shared insights on her mother’s passing, attributing it to a “broken heart” from the grief following her son Benjamin’s death.
While the official cause of death was a small bowel obstruction linked to bariatric surgery, Riley believes her mother’s emotional devastation played a significant role. “My mom tried her best to find strength for me and my younger sisters after Ben died,” Riley explained, noting how deeply Lisa Marie struggled.
Benjamin died by suicide at 27 in 2020. Lisa Marie’s manager expressed how devastated she was, but Lisa Marie continued caring for her family, driven by Benjamin’s final wishes to protect his sisters.
Riley has completed Lisa Marie’s unfinished memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, which will be released on October 8.
