A tragic car accident during Hurricane Helene claimed the life of 4-year-old Luna Jade Gaddis in Catawba County, North Carolina, on September 26. The hurricane’s heavy rains created hazardous driving conditions, leading to the fatal crash.
Luna was a passenger in a car driven by her mother, Lyndsey Nicole Gaddis. Their vehicle swerved into the opposite lane and collided head-on with another car. Luna died at the scene, while her mother sustained minor injuries. A 12-year-old in their car suffered critical injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, Tiffany Miner Sipe, was injured but survived, while a 2-year-old and another 4-year-old passenger were also hurt. Authorities have confirmed that impairment was not a factor in the crash, but charges may follow pending further investigation.
Luna’s passing has devastated her community. Her grandmother described her as a “gift from God” and fondly remembered her bright smile. Luna, who loved the outdoors and pageants, will be honored in a funeral service. Many have shared condolences, remembering her joyful spirit.
