Teaching is often seen as a calling, a chance to shape young minds and inspire future generations. However, not all teachers meet this high standard. One Pennsylvania father, Chris Piland, shared a troubling experience involving his second-grader, Kamdyn, and a teacher at Valley View Elementary School.
The controversy began when Kamdyn’s teacher, Alyssa Rupp Bohenek, left a harsh note on his math assignment. After the child completed only 13 subtraction problems in three minutes, she wrote, “Absolutely pathetic” and added, “Absolutely pitiful, he answered 13 questions in 3 minutes! Sad.”
Piland was outraged, calling the comment bullying. He posted a photo of the assignment online, saying, “All year long, my son’s teacher has been nasty to him and me. I am incensed someone would write this on a child’s work. Such fantastic inspiration.”
The post quickly gained traction, leading to a petition demanding the teacher’s termination. Over 16,000 people signed, calling for action to prevent similar incidents. Meanwhile, the school superintendent scheduled a meeting to decide if firing the teacher is warranted.
