David Parton, Dolly Parton’s cherished brother, passed away peacefully at his home in Tennessee on November 15, 2024, at the age of 82. His death marks another profound loss for the Parton family, who have faced multiple bereavements over the years.
David, lovingly remembered as “sweet David,” was celebrated by his sister Stella in a heartfelt social media post. She highlighted his time in the U.S. Marine Corps and his work as a superintendent building bridges. David’s family includes his daughters, Donna and Dena, his “nephew/son” Lucas Townsend, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his siblings Denver, Bobby, Willadene, Cassie, Freida, Rachel, Stella, and Dolly. He was married to his wife, Kay, for 45 years.
A funeral service is scheduled for November 19 at Leadvale Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Dandridge Memorial Gardens.
David’s passing follows the losses of several family members, including their parents, Robert and Avie Lee, and siblings Randy, Floyd, Larry, and baby Donnie.
Though grieving, the Parton family finds comfort in their faith and in the memories of David’s love, sacrifice, and kindness.
