
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday when a boat carrying 40 people, primarily students, capsized in the Khanpur reservoir, resulting in the death of a teacher. Saleha Bibi, a beloved educator, drowned after becoming trapped beneath the vessel during the excursion. The group from Sadiqabad, Rawalpindi, was enjoying a joyride on a double-decker boat when it hit a rock while circling around a hillock, causing it to overturn.Fortunately, most passengers, including students and teachers, were wearing life jackets and managed to escape unharmed. Local divers and rescuers quickly arrived at the scene to assist those in distress and transported them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Khanpur. Tragically, despite efforts to save her, Saleha was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. One student, Shumaila Amin, was also treated for brief drowning but is expected to recover.In response to the incident, police arrested the boatman, Kaleemullah, and initiated legal proceedings against him for negligence. The community mourns the loss of a dedicated teacher.
