While riding their motorcycle on back roads near Little Rock, Arkansas, Bret Winingar and his son, Zach, spotted an old dog carrier. Curious, they decided to check it out, and what they found inside would forever change their lives.
Inside the cage was a starving dog, filthy and covered in feces. The dog had chewed a hole in the carrier, trying to escape the confinement. Saddened by her condition, Bret and Zach didn’t leave her behind. They acted quickly to help.
The first thing they did was trim Charlie Bravo’s claws, which had grown so long from being confined that they caused her pain when she walked. Then, they gave her a bath to clean her up.
Though Bret hadn’t initially planned to adopt the dog, he couldn’t bring himself to give her away. Since that day, Bret and his family have adopted three more rescue dogs, deeply touched by the experience of rescuing Charlie.
