A devastating crash on Interstate 96 in Michigan late Saturday night resulted in four fatalities and 17 injuries. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. when a semitractor-trailer collided with numerous vehicles that had come to a halt due to utility work being conducted by DTE Energy. Police reported that traffic had been temporarily stopped for power line installation, and the road had just reopened when the truck crashed into the backed-up cars.Authorities believe the driver of the semi-truck failed to notice the stopped traffic in time to stop. The collision caused a fire that engulfed the truck and several other vehicles involved. Among the deceased were three individuals from Lansing, including a 20-year-old woman and a 43-year-old woman, along with a 29-year-old man from Carson City driving a pickup truck

Seventeen people were transported to local hospitals for serious injuries. The driver of the semi-truck also sustained injuries and was taken for treatment. Cleanup efforts continued as investigations into the crash began, with the interstate remaining closed for inspections.
