Logan Sargeant, the American Formula 1 driver for Williams Racing, narrowly escaped injury after a dramatic crash during practice for the Dutch Grand Prix on Saturday. Sargeant lost control of his car in wet conditions, veering into a wall at Turn 4, which caused his vehicle to crumple and ignite upon impact. He remained in the car briefly, reassuring his team over the radio that he was “good,” but was quickly urged to exit as flames began to engulf the rear.

Sargeant jumped from the smoking wreckage and walked safely to the track’s edge while the session was red-flagged. Although he was unharmed, his car sustained extensive damage, preventing him from participating in qualifying later that day. Williams Racing confirmed they would continue repairs for race day. This incident marks a challenging season for Sargeant, who has yet to score points and is set to be replaced by Carlos Sainz next year. Qualifying saw Lando Norris take pole position, followed by Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.
