In a shocking incident, a 61-year-old surfer, identified as Kenji, lost part of his leg after being bitten by a shark while surfing at Waiehu Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii. The attack occurred on November 1, when Kenji was surfing at a popular spot known as “Sand Piles.” Despite the severe injury, he managed to swim back to shore with assistance from fellow surfers.

First responders quickly applied tourniquets to control the bleeding before transporting him to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition. Reports confirm that his leg was completely severed just below the knee. A GoFundMe page has been established to support Kenji’s recovery, with friends and family praising his resilience and positive spirit. After surgery, he reportedly expressed his love for the ocean, stating, “I still love the ocean!” The beach remains closed as authorities monitor for further shark activity.
