
A recent and alarming incident has emerged involving a diver who was unexpectedly attacked by a whale. The diver, a 62-year-old woman, was participating in a liveaboard dive cruise when she encountered a whale shark. During her second dive, while attempting to photograph the creature, the whale shark unexpectedly swam towards her with its mouth wide open.In a startling turn of events, the diver was struck by the whale shark and partially sucked into its mouth, becoming trapped up to her thighs. Fortunately, after a brief struggle, she was expelled from the shark’s mouth and managed to swim to safety with only minor injuries. Whale sharks are known as gentle giants and typically pose no threat to divers; however, this incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of marine life.

The diver’s experience highlights the importance of adhering to safety guidelines around large marine animals and being aware of one’s surroundings while diving. Despite the frightening encounter, she expressed her desire to continue diving in the future.
