Miriam Elizabeth Rodríguez Martínez, a mother from San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico, became a symbol of courage and determination after her daughter, Karen Alejandra Salinas Rodríguez, was kidnapped and murdered by the Los Zetas Cartel in 2012. Despite the family’s compliance with ransom demands, Karen was killed, and her body was found in 2014.
Miriam’s grief turned into a relentless quest for justice. She embarked on a dangerous mission to track down and confront the members of the cartel responsible for her daughter’s death. Using disguises, fake IDs, and even a fake handgun, Miriam confronted cartel members, holding them at gunpoint until the authorities could arrest them. Her efforts led to the capture of at least 10 criminals.
Her investigation was both daring and methodical. Miriam tracked down key members of the cartel, including one known as Sama, who ultimately revealed crucial information that led to the identification of more perpetrators.
Tragically, Miriam was murdered in 2017, shot 12 times outside her home. Her legacy continues to inspire justice in the fight against organized crime.
