On November 24, 2024, during the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium, defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton saved a young boy who had slipped over the edge of the elevated stands. As players were leaving the field, the boy lost his footing while leaning over the rail, but Wharton reacted quickly, catching him mid-fall and preventing a potentially serious injury. With help from a security official, Wharton safely returned the child to the stands. The incident occurred after the boys ignored a security guard’s repeated warnings to stay away from the railing. Wharton later described his response as a “natural reaction” during an interview on the “Pat McAfee Show.”
