A young girl from Timmins, Ontario, grew up in a harsh, poverty-stricken environment. Her family struggled with basic needs due to her stepfather’s low-paying job and her mother’s battle with depression. As one of five children, she learned to go without and found solace in singing, using it as an escape from her difficult reality.
From a young age, she performed at bars to express herself and gain self-worth. However, her life took a dramatic turn when tragedy struck, leaving her with the responsibility of raising her siblings. Despite this heavy burden, she put her dreams on hold to keep her family together.
Her childhood, marked by financial struggles and emotional hardship, stood in stark contrast to the lives of her classmates. Often going to school without lunch, she would wonder if her peers might leave some food behind, hoping she could take it later. Eventually, her once-private passion for music transformed into a powerful, global inspiration, turning her into a music star.
