Chances are, you’ve come across holes in your clothes before. If you haven’t, you’re lucky enough to avoid the wear and tear that comes with frequent use. For many, discovering holes in favorite garments is common.
These holes can be caused by a variety of things. Moths are often to blame, especially for natural fabrics like wool. However, not all holes are the result of pests. Clothes can develop holes due to simple wear and tear, or from snagging on rough surfaces like zippers, seatbelts, or belts.
If you notice holes near the midriff, it could be your belt buckle causing the damage. Overloading the washing machine is another issue, as it creates too much friction between clothes. Additionally, overusing chlorine bleach can weaken fabric, leading to holes.
To avoid these, don’t overload your washing machine, and turn clothes with beads or buttons inside out. Also, be mindful of sharp edges and rough surfaces that could damage your clothing.
