In an interview with GQ in 2022, Pitt shared how the condition has complicated social interactions. He often cannot remember or recognize people, which has led to misunderstandings, with many assuming he is rude or dismissive. He recounted how people often think he is disrespecting them, even though he struggles with identifying them by their face alone.
Prosopagnosia, which affects roughly 2.5% of the population, can manifest in two forms: congenital (present from birth) or acquired, often due to brain injuries. Though there’s no universal treatment, individuals with face blindness often learn strategies to navigate social settings. Celebrities such as Jane Goodall, Steve Wozniak, and Alan Alda have also dealt with the condition.
