The Premier League returns mid-week, with live matches from December 3 to 5 exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. While subscribers can watch at no extra cost, fans are being reminded that streaming live events in the UK requires a valid TV Licence.
The £169.50-per-year licence is mandatory for watching live broadcasts or streaming live events, even on platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix, or YouTube. Failure to comply risks a fine of up to £1,000 (£2,000 in Guernsey).
TV Licensing confirmed: “A licence is required for live content on streaming services or to record TV programmes. We maintain a database of licensed and unlicensed addresses, and visiting officers may verify claims of exemption.”
This week’s fixtures include Arsenal vs. Manchester United and Liverpool’s continued title charge. Fans are urged to ensure compliance to avoid hefty penalties.
