Dima, the child thrown by the mother >>>>>>>>

Born in Ukraine, Dima, now Zebadiah Chaves, has overcome immense challenges. Diagnosed with hydrocephalus at birth, his biological parents abandoned him. Left in an orphanage for disabled children in Krematorsk, staff doubted his survival.

In 2014, the war in eastern Ukraine forced the orphanage to evacuate, leaving children like Dima without food or medicine. After a week of turmoil, separatists handed the children to Ukrainian authorities, bringing them to safety in Kharkiv.

Dima’s fate changed when Ernest and Ruth Chaves, a couple from Vermont, heard about the war-torn region and decided to adopt him. Experienced parents of seven, they quickly brought Dima to the U.S., giving him a new name, Zebadiah.

With love and care, Zebadiah made incredible progress. He learned to eat with a spoon, walk, and even communicate in both Ukrainian and English. Doctors remain optimistic about his future, with Zebadiah undergoing surgeries to further improve his health.

Today, Zebadiah thrives with his family, proving his strength and resilience. His journey is a testament to hope, love, and the power of second chances.
