Emma Stone’s Daughter’s Name Has A Sweet Family History

Emma Stone’s Daughter’s Name Has A Sweet Family History

Despite her high-profile career, Emma Stone keeps her personal life remarkably private. She doesn’t have a public Instagram account, and little is known about her relationship with her husband, Saturday Night Live segment director Dave McCary. Therefore, any glimpse into her personal life, such as the birth and naming of her and McCary’s first child, becomes a significant event for her fans.

According to TMZ, Stone gave birth to a baby girl on March 13, 2021. Two months later, on May 24, the outlet obtained the baby’s birth certificate and revealed her name: Louise Jean McCary.

The name itself is charming, but it holds special significance when considering its connection to Stone’s family. Louise Jean closely resembles Stone’s own birth name: Emily Jean Stone (though she now goes by Emma). Not only do mother and daughter share a middle name, but Louise Jean is also named after Stone’s grandmother, Jean Louise. Interestingly, Stone’s mother, Krista, also shares the middle name Jean, making it a tradition spanning four generations.

In the years since Stone gave birth, she and McCary—who married in September 2020 after meeting on the SNL set in 2016—have kept Louise out of the spotlight, choosing not to publicly discuss or share photos of her. Even during her pregnancy, Stone mostly kept this significant life update private. However, as an A-list star, she couldn’t entirely escape public notice. Reports of her pregnancy surfaced in January 2021, and she was later seen in Los Angeles with a baby bump.

One of the rare instances when Stone publicly discussed her family life was in September 2018, long before Louise was born. She told Elle, “My perspective about kids has changed as I’ve gotten older. I never babysat or anything. As a teenager, I was like, ‘I’m never getting married, I’m never having kids.’ And then I got older and I was like, ‘I really want to get married, I really want to have kids.’”

With the arrival of Louise Jean, Stone’s wish came true.
