Many people know Christina Applegate as Jen Harding from the hit Netflix show Dead to Me. She has been open about her battles with multiple sclerosis (MS). She recently talked about an open chat she had about the early symptoms she was having while filming the show.
Applegate was told she had MS in 2021, but she now sees that she ignored some early warning signs two years before that. One of the first signs she noticed was losing her balance, which she first thought was because she was tired.
In a radio episode for her show MeSsy, Applegate talked about the event with Liz Feldman, the director of Dead to Me. They talked about a scene where Applegate had to run through a field and trip and fall. They thought it was just exhaustion at the time, but now they know it was an early sign of her autoimmune disease
According to Feldman, Applegate lost her balance “a couple of times” while they were shooting. At the time, they didn’t think much of it. Feldman said, “It was very hard to figure out.” “I remember one time it was like really late at night, we’d been shooting probably 14 or 15 hours, it seemed completely reasonable that anybody would be collapsing.”
Applegate and her team were shocked when she was told she had MS in 2021. The creation of the show was pushed back twice, first because of the COVID-19 pandemic and then because Applegate was diagnosed. Applegate was scared, and Feldman could tell that something was wrong with her body.
