Olivia, who was pregnant with her second child, went through what most expecting mothers do: she was fatigued and sought solace in hiding away and satisfying her junk food desires. Fortunately, her best friend Ava refused to let her go through her emotional rollercoaster alone, volunteering to perform a variety of activities to keep Olivia interested.
Ava proposed that the two take a pottery lesson and build something for the baby shower. Olivia reluctantly consented because Ava was too enthused about it. They planned for Olivia’s husband, Malcolm, to care for their second child.
When they arrived, they took their place among the other women. As the seminar progressed, the women began telling their birth tales.
One of the women muttered something that sent chills down Olivia’s spine. She gave birth to her son on July 4th, the same day Olivia gave birth to her first daughter Tessa, but her husband was not present because his sister-in-law, Olivia, was also giving birth at the time.
This was too much of a coincidence.
The woman then revealed that her husband, Malcolm, who shared Olivia’s name, had skipped his son’s first birthday in order to attend his niece’s.
Olivia and Ava exchanged disbelieving glances. Olivia needed to be sure the woman wasn’t talking about her Malcolm, so she gave her a photo of her husband and asked if the man she was talking about was in the photo. The woman was astonished. She barely mustered the confidence to answer, “Yes, that is the father of my son.”
Olivia’s heart sand. Her world turned upside down upon the realization that Malcolm had a son with another woman.
The rest of the women in the pottery party exchanged sympathetic glances, understanding the gravity of the situation.
She acknowledged that the route would be difficult, but she is committed to repair herself for her children.
