Lila, a curious young girl, was approached by her friend, Timmy. “I’ll give you $10 if you climb the flagpole,” he grinned. Lila, always up for a challenge, said, “Sure!” She climbed to the top with ease.
Later, Lila told her mom, who gently explained, “He might just be teasing you, sweetheart. Maybe it’s not a good idea.”
The next day, Timmy doubled his offer. “I’ll give you $20 if you climb it again!” Lila thought for a moment, then had an idea. She climbed up but wore her gym shorts under her dress. When she came down, she smiled, pocketed the money, and ran home.
“Mom, Timmy paid me $20 today!” she said proudly.
Her mom asked, “Didn’t I warn you?”
Lila laughed. “Don’t worry, Mom. I wore shorts! He didn’t outsmart me.”
The following day, Timmy approached her again. “Want to climb for $50?”
Lila smiled, “Nah, Timmy. How about I teach you to climb instead?”
From that day on, they became good friends, learning new tricks together and respecting each other’s boundaries.
