It’s hard to believe that 16 years have passed since we said goodbye to Steve Irwin.

Now, after being married for over a decade, Terri Irwin has revealed a shocking statement her husband allegedly made to her.

The interview with Terri for the Australian show “Anh’s Brush With Fame” recently took an unexpected turn.

Terri said, “He never thought he’d have a long life,” in response to the interviewer’s question about Steve’s premature death. “He always kind of had this sense his life would be cut short.”

Steve’s prognosis came true, but not without regret. The well-liked TV host was killed by a sting ray barb while filming “Ocean’s Deadliest” in Queensland, Australia.

After the event, Terri was instructed to contact the zoo’s director. She remembers receiving the news that her spouse had passed away very clearly.

“I just remember this incredible sense of responsibility, this feeling of overwhelming grief but ‘what do I do next? I kind of collected my thoughts and then had to go out to the car and tell Bindi and Robert … which was really hard.”

Terri says she was taken aback by the outpouring of sympathy once the news of Steve’s death spread.

“No one would’ve been more surprised than Steve at the outpouring of grief and love,” she said.

The news of Steve’s death quickly made its way around the world, thanks to the efforts of the media.

Millions of people were left to grieve the loss of a national treasure who had dedicated his life to increasing people’s knowledge and compassion for animals.

The world may change, but Steve Irwin will always be remembered.
