I Told My MIL Sh>>>>>>>>>>>

A 25-year-old woman shared on Reddit that she recently became engaged to her high school sweetheart, a 26-year-old man. The couple has been together for seven years.

The Original Poster (OP) expressed her deep love for her fiancé and mentioned that she gets along well with most of his family, except for his mother. The tension arises because her future mother-in-law constantly pressures her about having a child.

OP explained that while these comments might seem harmless, her fiancé has repeatedly told his mother that she already has a child. However, his mother refuses to acknowledge it.

“My little girl, Ellie, is my best friend’s daughter. Sadly, my best friend passed away, and as her godmother, I took Ellie in and have been raising her as my own. It felt like the right thing to do,” OP shared.

As the couple prepares for their wedding, they have been excited about including Ellie as the flower girl, especially since she loves flowers. However, OP’s future mother-in-law has made things difficult for the child, leading to heated arguments between them.

During a recent family gathering, OP’s mother-in-law made a particularly hurtful comment: “I just don’t understand why an adopted child should take the place of real blood.”

Furious, OP pulled her aside and firmly told her to stop. She explained how much it meant to Ellie to be embraced as part of the family. Instead of apologizing, her mother-in-law accused OP of being rude to her “new family.”

The confrontation escalated, and OP left with Ellie. Later, her fiancé informed her that his mother claimed OP had verbally harassed and even threatened her—an accusation OP strongly denied.

A few days later, Ellie became upset that she hadn’t seen her cousins. Wanting to smooth things over, OP decided to visit her in-laws and apologize.

Things seemed fine until OP heard Ellie crying upstairs. She rushed up and found her future mother-in-law angrily clutching Ellie’s teddy bear—a cherished gift crocheted by Ellie’s late mother. This bear was of great sentimental value.

Seeing Ellie in distress, OP lost her temper. Her mother-in-law, unshaken, continued to belittle the child. “She then said she was upset that I had chosen ‘fake blood’ over ‘real blood,'” OP recounted.

Heartbroken, OP saw her fiancé retrieve the teddy bear and comfort Ellie. OP, at her breaking point, told her mother-in-law that if she had such a problem with Ellie being the flower girl, she could skip the wedding and just attend the reception.

Her mother-in-law began to cry, and while OP admitted she felt slightly guilty for her words, she refused to apologize. After leaving, other family members told her fiancé that OP was in the wrong and needed to apologize, or they would not support her moving forward.
