My husband and I just celebrated a major milestone—our 10-year anniversary. It was a quiet evening at home, just the two of us enjoying a lovely dinner. Wanting to capture the moment, we snapped a photo. It turned out so well that I posted it on Facebook before heading to bed.
The next morning, my phone buzzed with notifications. Curious, I checked the comments—and froze. No one was talking about our anniversary. Instead, they were asking, “Who’s that behind you?”
With a growing sense of dread, I reopened the photo. My heart dropped. In the background, faint but unmistakable, stood a shadowy figure. We had been alone.
I showed my husband. His calm demeanor faltered. As we debated what to do, I glanced outside—and saw the same figure, motionless by the tree in our yard.
We called the police, but by the time they arrived, the figure had vanished. They found nothing.
We never figured out who—or what—it was. Since then, I’ve never posted another anniversary photo. Some moments are best left unshared.
