True Crime Documentary Explores Tragic Death of Harry Potter Star Rob Knox
Rob Knox, best known for playing Marcus Belby in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was tragically killed in 2008 at just 18.
Knox had a promising career, with roles in The Bill and After You’re Gone, and was set to reprise his Harry Potter role. However, his life was cut short when he was fatally stabbed while protecting his younger brother in London. His killer, Karl Bishop, was sentenced to life in prison.
Following his passing, Harry Potter co-stars paid tribute. Daniel Radcliffe wrote: “We are all proud to have known you and devastated to have lost you.” Rupert Grint added: “Rest in peace, mate.”
ITV later commissioned K(nox): The Rob Knox Story, a documentary featuring interviews with his family, friends, and co-stars. Director Aaron Truss, a longtime family friend, wanted to raise awareness of knife crime and the UK’s justice system.
The documentary won Best Feature Documentary at the 2021 London Independent Film Festival. Truss hopes Knox’s story serves as both a tribute and a powerful message against violence
