Popular influencer Ricardo Godoi has tragically died aged 45.

The prominent Brazillian content creator, with over 200,000 Instagram followers, was recognized for his luxury car content, in addition to being the CEO of Godoi Premium Group, a business he founded.

Godoi’s passing was confirmed on his social media account on January 20.

A translated post read: “Today we say goodbye to Ricardo Godoi, an incredible person who left his mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“His joy, generosity, and light will remain present in our memories and in every story he helped to build. May he rest in peace.”

One of Godoi’s close friends, Eduardo Razuk, expressed his disbelief and grief to the Daily Mail.

Razuk said: “I spoke to him in the morning. Unbelievable, none of us expected that. He’s already in my prayers. Godoi was certainly an enlightened person.”

Godoi had reportedly arranged for a full back tattoo to be done at a facility in Santa Catarina, Brazil, opting to undergo general anesthesia for the process.

Tragically, he’s said to have suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away at 12 p.m. on the same day.

The tattoo studio owner told the Daily Mail that the cardiac arrest occurred ‘at the beginning of the sedation and intubation,’ before any tattooing began.

Describing Godoi as a ‘great friend,’ the owner added: “He was quickly checked and a cardiologist was called in to try to revive him, unfortunately without success.”

Godoi’s death has prompted an investigation by local authorities which is ongoing.

Dr. John Baer, anesthesiologist and chair of anesthesia at Swedish Medical Center in Colorado, explained to Scripps News: “Anesthesia is really a lot more complicated than just flipping a switch like turning off a light.”

He noted that while modern advancements have significantly reduced anesthesia-related fatalities – down from 1 in 1,000 in the 1940s to approximately 1 in 100,000 today – risks remain.

Dr. Baer cautioned: “Those who have the money, the fame, they will find the places they can get this safely done, but still there’s always that inherent risk.”
