As Tiger Woods prepares to return to the PGA Tour, he took time to golf with former President Donald Trump in South Florida. They teed off Sunday morning at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, days before Woods competes at Torrey Pines, his first PGA Tour event since The Open.
Trump, expected at the Super Bowl later that evening, adds another high-profile event to his schedule. Woods, with eight career victories at Torrey Pines, will travel to San Diego for the Genesis Invitational, moved to Torrey’s South Course due to the Palisades fire. Woods hasn’t completed a full 72-hole tournament since last April’s Masters.
Trump recently met with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and player director Adam Scott to discuss professional golf’s future. A PGA statement thanked Trump for helping bring the negotiations closer to resolution.
Amid this, Woods shared personal news: his mother, Kultida Woods, passed away at 80. “She was my biggest fan, greatest supporter,” Woods said. Trump extended his condolences, praising Kultida’s influence on Tiger’s strength and brilliance. Their friendship, highlighted by golf outings and a 2019 Presidential Medal of Freedom, remains strong.
