Sheryl Crow, the acclaimed country music singer, has taken a bold stand against Elon Musk by selling her Tesla and donating the proceeds to National Public Radio (NPR).
The 63-year-old Missouri native, known for her outspoken political views, recently voiced her disappointment over Musk’s influence on American politics, especially his ties to Donald Trump and his role in public discourse. Crow took to Instagram to announce that she had sold her black Tesla in protest.
In her post, she shared a video of herself bidding farewell to the car, saying, “My parents always said… you are who you hang out with. There comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with. So long Tesla.”
This gesture was a response to Musk’s involvement in the Trump administration and his opposition to NPR. Crow emphasized the importance of supporting truthful journalism, stating that the money from the sale was donated to NPR “in hopes that the truth will continue to find its way to those willing to know the truth.”
Her decision sparked mixed reactions, with some praising her stand while others criticized her as “woke” and accused her of endorsing “wasteful government spending.” Crow remained unfazed, smiling as a tow truck took the car away.
Elon Musk has accused NPR of biased news coverage, a claim echoed by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who proposed defunding the organization. Despite the backlash, Crow’s actions highlighted her commitment to integrity, compassion, and supporting free and honest media.
