I did everything I could for my husband but he always seemed to be dissatisfied. One day, I woke up to my husband’s voice in the hall along with a female voice. “How could he?” I thought. And that was the last straw for me.
I work at a bank as a project manager and our latest project has been the hardest of all. I often came home late and sometimes, I would work on the weekends.
But work is just a slice of my busy life. I have a house and a husband to take care of, and my lovely hubby isn’t as lovely as he used to be. He doesn’t help me with house chores, he doesn’t cook, he barely goes food shopping. I’m responsible for almost everything.

I work at a bank as a project manager, and our latest project has been the hardest yet. Late nights and weekend work became the norm, leaving me drained. But work is just one part of my life. I also manage a home and a husband who barely helps. Aiden doesn’t cook, doesn’t shop, and does nothing to ease my burden.
Aiden never acknowledged my struggles. One night, after arriving home at 9 p.m., he greeted me with, “Where have you been?”
I explained my workload, but he dismissed it. “Whatever, Claire. I’m hungry. Will you make dinner or not?”
I had no energy to argue. After grocery shopping and cooking, he ate in silence, leaving me with the mess.
The next morning, I woke up sick. Instead of concern, Aiden demanded breakfast. When I moved too slowly, he snapped, “Never mind, I’ll be late!” and slammed the door.
That day, I uncovered his affair.
Realizing my worth, I changed the locks, packed his things, and ended it. Filing for divorce was liberating. Now, I love myself first.
Never stay in a toxic relationship—your well-being matters most.
