Snakes can be a serious concern, especially in areas where they are commonly found, such as on roofs, tree branches, or hidden in cool places under beds. This is why snake research has become increasingly important. Snakes are high-level animals with a highly developed sense of smell. Certain plants, however, can attract snakes into homes.
There are several plants known to attract snakes, including:
- White snake grass (also known as snake tongue or boa constrictor grass) grows year-round in cool, humid areas, and wherever this grass is found, snakes often follow.
- White snake flower, a medicinal plant, also attracts snakes due to its strong smell, even though it’s used to treat various health issues.
- Purple cassia fruit, sweet and appealing to rodents, attracts snakes that hunt them.

Other plants like jasmine, passionflower, and cosmos can also draw snakes, but if these plants are properly cared for, they’re less likely to attract them.
To prevent snakes from entering your home, eliminate hiding places, reduce food and water sources, and keep the area clean and tidy.
