While Emma was at her desk one afternoon, she received an unexpected delivery. Inside a bright pink box was a cake with a chilling message: “I am divorcing you.” Next to it was a positive pregnancy test—one she had forgotten to hide. Her stomach sank. Jake, her husband, must have found it. He believed he couldn’t have children due to infertility, so he must have thought the worst: that she had betrayed him.
Emma had been hesitant to tell him about the test, waiting for confirmation from the doctor. She had hoped the news would be a joy, not a disaster. But now, Jake believed she’d cheated, and the cake was his response.
Panicked, Emma rushed home to explain. Jake, furious, demanded she deny the test was hers. She told him the truth: the baby was his. After years of struggle, the doctors had been wrong—he wasn’t completely infertile.
The relief and confusion in Jake’s eyes were evident. “I thought you’d left me,” he whispered, tears filling his eyes. Emma’s heart ached, but at least they had a future—together.
